Gem Lakes Recreation Association Board of Directors

April 16, 2005 Meeting Minutes

The Gem Lakes Recreation Association Board of Directors met on the morning of Saturday, March 12, 8:10 a.m. at the Pavilion.

Present:

Buddy Brinkley, Gary Bunker, Scott Flickinger, Gary Marozas, Vicki Murray, Dennis Saylor, and Ed Seufert.

Minutes:

The minutes from the March board meeting were approved.

Treasurer’s Report:

Ed Seufert discussed his proposal to change the GLRA checking account to Regions Bank and the motion to do so was passed unanimously. Ed Seufert discussed his proposal to purchase a computer for our bookkeeper, Evelyn Miano, and train her on setting up the accounts on Quicken. The board debated this proposal, and Dennis Saylor motioned that this proposal be tabled until bids for this scope of work were received from other accountants, such as David Snyder and Concept HR. It was noted that personal checks will now be double-signed. The board also agreed to bring Evelyn Miano to an upcoming board meeting and to have Ed Seufert properly “scope out” the bookkeeper’s job functions. Ed Seufert will work with Evelyn Miano on the 2004 late dues letter and the 2005 dues letter.

The 2005-2006 budget was passed with few changes. The term “Accountant” in the budget was changed to “Bookkeeper.” It was acknowledged that the “Taxes” portion is only an estimate and that the “Withholding” section could be moved up to “Wages and Salaries.” The cost for the grass cutting was deemed reasonable in comparison to costs from other private contractors. The sum in “Undesignated Projects” was moved to the “Dam Drainage Systems” project. The cost for the “Web Site” was reduced from $250 to $150. Dennis Saylor volunteered to check with the insurance company regarding the possible purchase of paddleboats and/or other water craft for use on the swimming lake.

2005-2006 Officer Elections:

The officer positions were elected by the board as follows:

President – Dennis Saylor

Vice-President – Buddy Brinkley

Treasurer – Ed Seufert

Secretary – Gary Bunker
