GLEE Homepage

Gem Lakes Engaging Everyone (GLEE) is open to all adult residents of the Gem Lakes community.  We are dedicated to improving the neighborhood, welcoming new residents, and keeping members abreast of Gem Lakes events and issues.

GLEE works in cooperation with the Gem Lakes Recreation Association but is a completely separate and independent entity.

Some of the community activities GLEE has organized:

  • Luminary sale and display is the second Saturday in December.  If it rains, the display will beml28uhiOmfCqfJzt.png held on the following Monday.  GLEE purchases the plain white bags and candles and sells them to you at cost.  If you wish, you may use your own supplies. There are no guidelines in spacing of the luminaries. The bags can be placed as close or as far apart as you would like.  Be sure to put kitty litter or sand in the bag to help keep the bag from blowing away.  We would just like a continuous flow of light.  If you are unable to place your bags outside, let us know and we will get one of our volunteers to help.
  • Yard sale (In the past, it has been held the first Saturday in May.) - This is held at each resident's home.

  • "Lot of Blessings" - 2020 was our inaugural year.  Sometimes it's easier to focus on what we don't have, rather than what we do have.  It's important to take time out and remember all of the things to be thankful for that many of us take foDjo3CHyMtCR0v29d.jpgr granted.  Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life . . . chaos to order, confusion to clarity, a stranger into a friend.  Glee will have flags in the median of Hartwell Drive during the month of November.  Residents are encouraged to write their blessing on one of the flags provided and place it in the median.  If you wish to make this a family activity, feel free to create your own blessing sign and place it in the median.

  • Flags - 2021 was our inaugural year.  I hope you saw the flags on display when driving down Lakeside Drive during Memorial Day.  We are so blessed to be an American and living in the United States of America.  As Abraham Lincoln DAzClyOMyKWvWUZv.jpgsaid, "I like to see a man proud of the place in which he lives.  I like to see a man live so that his place will be proud of him."  Thank you to all who served and are serving!!

GLEE would like to see the residents of Gem Lakes display flags in front of their home (just like we do in December with the Luminaries) during Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Veterans Day.

GLEE purchased flags (6" x 9" on an 18" dowel with a pointed  bottom) and sold them to residents at our cost. Don't know how many to buy?  We tried to space them approximately 8 feet apart.
A limited supply of flags are still available at $.60 each. Send an email to [email protected] for your order.

It's Spooky To Be Hungry Gem Lakes has always been very supportive of this event. We have participated for over 10 years.  Food is collected for the Golden Harvest Food Bank to feed the hungry.  Continue to check back to this page.  We hope to have more information later.
